New Web Site Layout

Today, after much messing around, I have launched my revamped site. The IPhone maps seem to be fairly popular. I'm not sure if people are actually using the maps or just checking them out for the novelty.

Either way, I changed the main site to focus more on the maps. The Magic Kingdom Map seems to be the most popular map by far. That seems pretty interesting to me. I had thought all of the park maps like Epcot, Animal Kingdom and Hollywood Studios would be used about the same. However, I do realize it could just be that the link takes them into the Magic Kingdom map first. The map landing page is a little boring. :)

Once I have some more time, I'm going to create a better - more IPhone like - landing page and create some icons for each map based on the ones above so it's easy to turn a map into a web clip.

Now, if only I can save up for a trip to Walt Disney World to use the maps myself!

I think you are right about the other 3 maps being not as popular. I found them by using the list button on the Magic Kingdom map. I think these are great. Any chance you can make a whole map one 1 page so we can just scroll all around, rather than the map having to reload each time we hit an arrow? Just a thought....

I was planning on an updating the maps to allow for some kind of zooming or having the map on one page. The problem with a whole map on one page is the time it takes to download an image that is viewable on the iPhone without WiFi. Some of the Disney maps are pretty large. But I had started thinking that if someone wants to wait for a full-size Magic Kingdom map, it's their choice, so why not provide it. Plus full-size maps of all the theme parks would be nice when you aren't on an iPhone or iPod. Thanks for the feedback.

Making these maps for iPhone, and most ALL cell phones has been a pet idea of mine for quite a long time and I have some great ideas as well as a fantastic web address to match Since I have a "real" job, just never got around to using the address or growing my idea(s). Maybe we should chat via email a little bit. I'm not talking about any sorta money exchanging hands, or selling you anything, or you selling me anything. I do it for the fun really. I'm not sure where you got the artwork for your maps but if you can get it in SVG you should be able to load the whole map at once. Then users could scroll easily.

I am currently working out how to provide an easier mechanism to scroll. Part of the reason for the slices was also download time for the images of the map. But it seems like enough people would like something larger, that I figure they may be willing to wait for slightly larger images.

I just wanted to thank you for putting these maps together. They are terrific! I'll be using them for my trip to Disney World in June. Its great webapps like this that make having my iPhone all the better. You should put up a paypal donation button. I for one don't mind donating for handy tools like this. Thank you again.

Thank you for the maps..These really are great work. I do feel the need to point out though that there are some attractions that aren't on the map. i.e. Laughfloor in MK Do you have plans to update the maps to stay current? Thanks!!!

Thanks for the info. I hadn't realized their were new rides. I use the web for most of my info and I guess somethings weren't up-to-date either. I'll add them fairly soon and probably start reviewing the other parks.
